Jackson, Wyo. (AP) – The Wyoming Department of Game and Fish says some licenses to hunt elk at Grand Teton National Park are still available.
Mark Gocke is public information specialist for the game department in Jackson. He says the remaining licenses are for antlerless elk. There are 47 tags remaining for Hunt Area 75, and 23 remaining in Hunt Area 79.
Gocke says the licenses are available on the game department’s Web site. The hunting season for Area 75 runs from Oct. 10 to Dec. 6 while the season for Area 79 lasts from Oct. 10 to Nov. 10.
Jackie Skaggs is spokeswoman for Grand Teton National Park. She says the Jackson Hole Elk herd, which includes animals on the park, is now about 12,500 animals.
She says wildlife managers want to reduce the number to about 11,000.
